EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – ECCHA announced a 97% live release rate for animals in 2024.
In a press release, they say a total of over 1,500 animals were cared for in 2024 with 97% of them finding their way back into loving homes.
A No-Kill Shelter is defined as a shelter or rescue that does not euthanize healthy, treatable animals and has a live-release rate of 90% and above for animals in their care. This includes not only adoptions, which accounted for over 1,000 animals cared for, but animals returned to their owners and animals transferred to other shelters or sanctuaries.
This is the fourth consecutive year in a row and their highest live-release rate to date.
ECCHA’s success can be attributed to a combination of factors, including collaboration with community partners, innovation in their approach, and proactive community engagement.
They consistently emphasizes the importance of spaying/neutering pets, routine veterinary care, proper nutrition, and socialization to prevent the abandonment and mistreatment of animals.
Looking ahead, ECCHA remains committed to enhancing their existing programs and expanding their outreach. By continuously improving upon their services and raising awareness, they strive to further reduce the stray and unwanted animal population and will continue the remarkable achievement of a No-Kill Shelter for years to come.
