A group of nearly 100 U.K. zoos and outdoor attractions is asking weather services, websites, and apps to rethink how forecasts appear online and on phones — claiming misleading rain icons could be discouraging visitors.
The push is being led by respected institutions such as the Chester Zoo and the conservation charity Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), which operates Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park. According to the RZSS press release published on Wednesday, March 11, forecasts showing a rain symbol for the entire day, even if showers are expected for only a few hours, can significantly impact attendance.
