GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville Humane Society thought shepherd siblings Daisy and Koda found their forever homes last year. But an unusual coincidence brought both dogs back to the shelter.
As puppies, Daisy and Koda were rescued from an abusive situation and taken to a cruelty recovery center. They arrived at Greenville Humane Society in November 2024.
Shelter officials don’t know exactly what the pups endured before they were rescued, but said most animals at cruelty recovery centers are from abuse, neglect or hoarding cases.
Different families who didn’t know each other adopted Daisy and Koda shortly after they were brought in.
“We thought their stories had found their happy endings,” the Humane Society said in a post. “But fate, it seems, had one more chapter to write.”
In what shelter workers called a “one in a million coincidence,” both dogs ended up back at the Greenville Humane Society – in the same week.
“A couple of weeks ago, Daisy came back through our doors,” the post said. “Her family could no longer care for her. It broke our hearts – but then, just days later, Koda showed up too. Different circumstances, different people, same story. Neither family knew the other.”
After being separated for nearly a year, Daisy and Koda had a bittersweet reunion.
Now, the pups need to find homes that are forever this time. The shelter said they can be adopted separately.
