Northern Michigan woman faces new animal cruelty charges after 126 animals seized in Metro Detroit
A Michigan man is accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old A northern Michigan woman with an alleged history of animal abuse is facing new cruelty accusations in Metro Detroit.
More than 120 animals are now receiving better care after being seized by the Humane Society of Huron Valley on Sept. 5.
The 126 animals were taken from Christine Thompson included dogs, cats, horses, ponies, a donkey, goats, sheep, a rabbit, snakes, iguanas, frogs, tarantulas and more. Many were found in poor health and unsafe conditions but are now receiving care at HSHV.

Canton Township woman found dead in home, husband charged — here’s what we know
A woman was found dead inside her home in Canton Township this week, and now her husband is facing charges.
Police were called to a home on Pinehurst Drive in Canton Township at around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, on reports of a woman not breathing.
Officers said they found Yu Zhao, 30, unresponsive in the home.
She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A Wayne County woman who gave birth to her first child in a car had it happen again. But this time, it was during an Uber ride.
Uber driver Maggie Whatley knew something was amiss when she saw Braya Ray walking to the car on Aug. 22 in Wayne County.
“I was just like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s about to pop,’” said Whatley.

Eastern Market tailgating changes with new rules: What to know
Eastern Market tailgating is changing this year with new rules in place after last year’s shooting.
It happened Sept. 15, 2024, at Shed 6 in the Eastern Market neighborhood. Police said two men got into a confrontation and one of them pulled out a gun and fired shots. Two people were killed.

After plenty of sunshine to end the week, we are going to bring the chance of a few rain showers into the forecast to start the weekend, before the sunshine returns by the end of the weekend.
The clouds have increased overnight Friday night and early on Saturday morning, and we will keep the cloud cover into the forecast, looking ahead into the start of the weekend.
