How about the full story on DART?
Why doesn’t reporting on DART and the North Central Texas Council of Governments funding plan tell the full story? Why will DART continue collecting sales tax only to return a portion to cities?
Instead of collecting and redistributing funds — while incurring administrative costs — why not lower the tax rate and allow taxpayers to keep their money? If a city wants a transportation project, it can ask voters to approve it directly.
How much total transportation funding does the council of governments receive and where does it come from? With $180 million designated for mass transit, will other transportation projects be delayed, reduced or never funded?
