The Fort Worth Zoo announced Thursday the birth of its first mandrill in three decades, a milestone the institution considers a “conservation advancement.”
The baby girl, Ruby, was born Jan. 11 to mother, Scarlett, and father, J.J. Before Ruby, there have only been two mandrill births in the zoo’s history: a female in 1992 and male in 1995.
