Heartbreaking Message to Fans of Lake Superior Zoo in Minnesota
Lake Superior Zoo, located in Duluth, Minnesota, was founded in 1923 and is now open year-round for guests. On Tuesday, October 22nd, the following note was shared on Facebook with fans of the Lake Superior Zoo:
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Felix, our beloved 17-year-old Eurasian lynx. Felix had been a cherished member of the Lake Superior Zoo family since 2010, captivating visitors with her feisty spirit and her delightful sun-soaked naps on her back.

Lake Superior Zoo indicated that after a physical exam in August, Felix was in good health but following that, there was a sharp decline in health.
Felix underwent a comprehensive physical examination in August, and was overall in good health for her age. The Eurasian lynx has a typical lifespan of 12-15 years in the wild. In the past month, her dedicated animal care team observed that she was becoming unsteady while navigating her habitat and struggling to eat. After much deliberation, we made the decision to humanely euthanize her, surrounded by the loving keepers who cared for her deeply.
