Here’s what’s on tap for the upcoming special meeting of the Darien Planning & Zoning Commission.
DARIEN, Conn. — The Darien Planning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to focus on the town’s long-range planning priorities during a special meeting Tuesday, with discussion centered on a 2026 Plan of Conservation and Development update.
The special meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in Room 119 at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road.
The commission is expected to discuss the 2026 POCD alongside consultant H&H, as part of an ongoing process to update the town’s guiding policy document for land use, growth and development.
The POCD serves as a key planning tool that shapes decisions related to zoning, infrastructure, housing, environmental sustainability and economic development. The update process typically involves reviewing existing conditions, identifying community priorities and establishing recommendations to guide future policy and land-use decisions.
According to the agenda, the meeting will include a planning and zoning workshop format, along with a review of a design version of Chapters 1 through 5 of the plan.
Commissioners are also expected to discuss Chapter 6, focused on nature, sustainability and climate.
Because the session is designated as a special meeting, no other business will be considered, according to the agenda.
