SOUTHWICK — With the summer nearly over, which means a drop in visitors to the North Pond Conservation Area, and an anonymous donation of $5,000 to be used for plantings on the property, the Conservation Commission mapped out how it will revegetate the highly eroded areas on the property and scheduled two days to get it done.
“We’ve trying to pick a couple areas that we we’re going to plant, and then fence those areas off until they establish themselves enough so that … Hopefully, once they’re established, people won’t trample through them,” said Commissioner Kevin Solek while his fellow commissioners were discussing what trees and shrubs that needed to be planted to restore the steep slope just behind Kings Beach.
