EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Raintree Garden Center is hosting its 4th annual benefit thrift sale, and the proceeds from that thrift sale will go towards the Chippewa Humane Association.
Thrifting is an alternative to shopping at big box stores, and buying these second-hand items could buy animals a second chance.
“The humane associations do great work,” Melissa Wiltrout, the owner of Raintree Garden Center, said. “We really appreciate them. We have adopted two cats from them. I adopted a dog from them. We’re just really glad that somebody is stepping up to take care of the animals, and we want to help them in any way we can.”
All of the items for the sale were donated from the community, including the Attic Home Consignments, to help the humane association.
The Raintree Garden Center is still taking donations until Thursday, February 20, before 3 p.m.
Wiltrout said snagging a deal could also help animals in need.
“I love it when the people come in and shop, and you know everyone is happy. The buyers are like, ‘Hey, I found this cool thing.’ we just have some really cool stuff, and the prices are you know thrift store prices, so I think you will get some good stuff here.”
The sale is on Friday and Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Wiltrout is also looking for volunteers to help with the sale.
