ALLEGHENY AND WESTMORELAND COUNTIES, PA — The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County is asking its 56,000 customers to conserve water due to declining water levels at the Beaver Run Reservoir.
Customers of the Monroeville Municpal Authority, Plum Borough Municipal Authority, Parks Township Municipal Authority and Gilpin Township Municipal Authority also are being asked to conserve as well. Those four authorities also are served by Beaver Run Reservoir Water.
According to the Westmoreland authority, precipitation at the reservoir is down 13.25 inches from 2022, and only .37 inches has fallen in November compared to 3.66 inches in November 2022. The winter of 2022-2023 was especially mild as well, which decreased the amount of snowmelt that was available to serve the reservoir.
