MUSKEGON, MI – The Muskegon Conservation District will mark nearly nine decades of conservation work at its 88th annual meeting on Monday.
The event is planned for 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 23 at the Greater Muskegon Woman’s Club, 280 West Webster Avenue.
The event will showcase the district’s accomplishments from 2025 and outline upcoming projects planned for 2026.
It is free to attend and dinner costs $10. There will be free coffee and snacks during the first half hour.
Since 1938, the organization has served Muskegon County residents through various conservation initiatives.
Attendees can participate in a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses. All proceeds will fund land management activities on district-owned properties, specifically supporting efforts to create and maintain wildlife habitat.
Kuntry Kitchen will cater dinner, offering a baked potato bar for guests to enjoy while networking with community members and conservation partners.
The program will include educational presentations on prescribed fire and its benefits to native plants.
Speakers include Connie Crancer from Wild Ones Shore-to-Prairie Chapter and Michele Richards, natural resources specialist and wildland fire program manager with the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
The annual gathering provides residents an opportunity to learn about local conservation initiatives, meet district staff and connect with others committed to protecting natural resources in Muskegon County.
Additional information about the event is available at muskegoncd.org or by calling the district office at 231-828-5097, ext. 101.
