BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man on cockfighting and animal cruelty charges after several dogs and chickens were found in unlivable conditions.
On Jan. 1, deputies responded to the 600 block of Kayroe Drive after receiving reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames.
Upon arrival, officials saw a severely malnourished tan dog allegedly chained to the fence.
BCSO got in contact with Aundra Mathis, who was uncooperative and denied involvement with the animals, according to a release.
Throughout the investigation, deputies said they were able to identify three severely malnourished dogs, a dead bird with injuries consistent with cockfighting and more than 60 chickens and roosters
