The Nature Conservancy of Boston has launched the third year of its grant program for projects that protect the Appalachians, the nonprofit said Wednesday.
The Resilient and Connected Appalachians program started in 2023. It offers up to $100,000 to support projects towards permanent protection of land and water in the Appalachian states, the statement said.
The application for project funding in 2026 is now open.
The program covers parts of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, the statement said.
According to the organization, conservation efforts will allow Appalachian communities to cope with the effects of climate change.
This year, the organization awarded over $1 million to 14 organizations, the statement said.
