Scotland’s Cairngorms National Park just received 18 more wildcats in a years-long attempt to restore the mammals’ population to avoid extinction.
According to an announcement released by the Saving Wildcats on Tuesday, Oct. 21, in partnership with the wildlife conservation charity the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), and in collaboration with Cairngorms National Park Authority, Nordens Ark, NatureScot, Forestry and Land Scotland and Junta de AndalucĂa, the de-extinction efforts have brought the wildcat count at the park to 46 wildcats.
